The Color Purple

Martin and I had a lovely afternoon- a date in the city to see a matinee performance of the musical "The Color Purple." Although the show hurried through events and years at a blistering pace and the music was a bit lackluster, the singing and the performing was wonderful, the sets and period costumes were visually stunning and of course the story had me weeping with sadness and joy. (Move over Roger Ebert!)
We went to dinner afterwards at the restaurant Indigo near the Civic Center and had a wonderful time eating, drinking wine and pulling together all of those fragmented conversations that we have during the week in between the household distractions and minding the children. Thank you ,Nicole, for watching the kids and giving us a little time to reconnect!
